Chipmunks plan to kill us in our beds

You won’t have missed it, I’m sure, but one of the big media stories of the summer is shaping up to be the invasion of chipmunks who are sneaking in to the UK through the Channel Tunnel, with all the Daily Mail-baiting audacity of a Sangatte escapee.

Once here they are taking all sorts of liberties, such as invading our kitchens and eating our Crunchy Nut Cornflakes (much to the delight of Kellogg's marketing department, I'm sure/skeptical).
