The Media Blog only launched on 1 July 2009 but our launch was well timed to comment on a great many big stories for the media, from Twitterstorms to super-injunctions - as well as some quirky ones along the way. For better or worse, these were the 10 most-read posts from last year (not necessarily to be confused with the best posts):
1. Jan Moir ‘I’ve got a Twitter and I’m not afraid to use it’
2. Fox anchor tells weatherman to "keep fucking that chicken"
3. TfL bosses bin Kelly Brook's buns after Tube boob
4. Typo of the year? Thank you Guardian subs
5. The Media Blog debates Jan Moir's Stephen Gately column on Sky News
6. Daily Mail tones down Jan Moir headline
7. Jan Moir, Trafigura, Falcon Heene: Did somebody say disintermediation...?
8. Why UK newspapers miss the Beijing Bump
9. Tiger Woods injunction leaves editors teed off
10. 'Black people: Do we need them?'
You'll have noted the list has been skewed in part by the Jan Moir scandal that exploded in October 2009, focussing critics and commentators worldwide on the UK media and the role of social media in changing the nature, scale and combustibility of a breaking story. Unsurprising then that Moir also scooped the Media Blog's inaugural 'Villain of the Year Award'.
