It is commonplace now on many newsdesks feeding the web and stuffing their Twitter channels to measure journalist performance in terms of minutes and seconds, rather than facts and accuracy. Some newsdesks have their own time limits within which something must appear online. And this is what happens:
Quite some difference - not least of all to the family's of those 20 people - yet these Tweets appeared just seconds apart.
Odd - given that both the BBC and Reuters have codes of practise that explicitly prevent this type of call, and call for reporting from original sources for breaking stories.
