The Mail On Sunday and Daily Mail have been reported to the Press Complaints Commission (PCC) by FullFact for a series of misleading articles about the BBC, which tried to convince readers that the Corporation had imposed a "politically correct" ban on the use of BC and AD when reporting historical dates.
You would hope most readers would see through such obvious nonsense, but among those fooled by the Mail's articles was London Mayor Boris Johnson.
As Full Fact points out the Press Complaints Commission Code of Conduct clearly states "the Press must take care not to publish inaccurate, misleading or distorted information."Of course, one of the Commission's most senior members is Peter Wright, editor of the Mail On Sunday, whose paper first reported the fictitious 'ban'. So don't expect any action from the PCC any time soon.
