Today was a rare day for television newsrooms, a day when the running order for the evening news was almost certainly decided as early as 9am. Almost irrespective of what else happened it was set to be the Queen, the NHS bill, the repatriation of British soldiers, a pre-budget review and updates on the French shootings and footballer Fabrice Muamba. Even if not necessarily in that order, those were the packages.
But not one to toe the line, the Daily Mail spotted a different story (covered by some outlets last week) deemed worthy to top its website today:
