"I've cut your arm off!"
"No you haven't! You've merely tightened up my shoulder!"
When is a cut not a cut? Here's an explanation from LOCOG's director of communications today after it was suggested the opening ceremony of the London Olympics was being cut down:
"It is not actually being cut...What is actually happening is tightening up."
So what does the "tightening up" consist of?
"One small segment...has been cut and that is the bit with the stunt bikes."
So it's definitely not been cut. They've just "tightened up" the bit with the stunt bikes.
And by "tightened up" they mean they've "cut" the bit with the stunt bikes.
So let's not have any more talk of cuts.

Siobhan Sharp would be proud of them.

It's definately a cut, but is it a bad thing... stuntbikes?
It sounds like they've now done a couple of run-throughs and the whole thing is too long. After all isn't the normal complaint about opening ceremonies that they go on too long?
