It's a disgusting piece of journalism from the Mail et al. One could equally say "Girl saved from painful slow lingering death from broken neck in school gym because her teachers were out on strike".

This is the "Deal Or No Deal" fallacy, where people connect unrelated incidents in hindsight to fit a pre-conceived idea. In this case the freak death of the poor girl is abused by the Mail.

I think the point they were trying to make is that the school was closed due to Health & Safety concerns if the parents were keeping it open.
